Deped Investigating Viral Photos Of Students Making Fun Of Exit Exam

Department of Education (DepEd) said it is now investigating photos circulating online that showed how students improperly answered the recent Basic Education Exit Assessment (BEEA).

"As a rule, hindi ina-allow na mag-bring in ka ng cellphones mo during examinations, even ordinary periodical exams. Ini-imbestigahan na ngayon 'yan at our level," Education Secretary Leonor Magtulis-Briones said in a press conference in Manila City.
Her remarks came after photos circulated online showing test sheets of the BEEA that were improperly answered -- some students formed hearts when they shaded their questionnaires, while others made fun of their answers.

According to Briones, the DepEd is now looking at how many students were involved in this, as a total of 1.4 million learners took the exam.

Administered to Grade 12 students, the BEEA covers the 21st century learning skills and the core Senior High School (SHS) learning areas of Languages, Humanities, Communication, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and Philosophy.

"You have to verify 'yung sinasabi nilang galing sa exam, talaga bang sa exam 'yun?" asked Briones, who noted that the incidents may only be isolated.

"This would not really be, as I said, an epidemic, kasi strikto tayo na hindi dapat pinapapasok ang gadgets during that," she added.
